St. Patricks Day Parade Celebration

On Sunday March 17th, 2022 the MABSI hosted St. Patricks Parade-goers who enjoyed a fun atmosphere, great food, and friendly company. A band even came in and surprised us with an entertaining performance. We are grateful to all who came to celebrate and thankful to all of our volunteers as well.

2022 Children's Christmas Party

On December 18th, 2022 the MABSI hosted a Children's Christmas party! The Party was a success with many children in attendance. The children enjoyed visiting with Santa, creating crafts, and eating pizza. We look forward to hosting another Christmas Party in 2023.

Luzzu Showing at the
Detroit Institute of Arts

Twenty-five members of the MABSI attended the Detroit Institute of Arts theatrical showing of Luzzu on Sunday, January 16th, 2022. After the showing, members went to dinner at Mario's Restaurant in Detroit, Michigan. Thank you to all those who attended. We hope you had a wonderful time! Maltese American Heritage Day 2021

On Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 Maltese American Heritage Day was celebrated at the Michigan Capitol building in Lansing. The ceremony was hosted by State Representative, Darrin Camilleri. The festivities included awards presented to distinguished Maltese Americans, a tour of the capitol, and a lunch. 

Three Maltese American's were chosen as distinguished award members. Tanya Caruana, the MABSI secretary, was awarded with Maltese American Community Leader of the Year Award. Detroit club member, Joe Said was awarded with the Spirit of Malta Award and Dearborn club member, Lisa Buttigieg LiGreci was awarded as Maltese American of the Year. Congratulations to each award winner. Thank you for excellent service within the Maltese Community!

MALTESE AMBASSADOR TO THE USA, CANADA & MEXICO VISITS MICHIGAN

Sunday, October 3rd, 2021

 

Ambassador Keith Azzopardi spent a few days in Michigan meeting the Maltese Diaspora of Michigan attending Mass with us at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church followed by brunch at our local club in Corktown, Detroit. Singer, Jasmine Abela also traveled from Malta to sing at the two Michigan events.

The Maltese American Benevolent Society, Inc. had other dignitaries in attendance that included: Current State Rep., Darrin Quiroz Camilleri; Former State Rep., Belda Garza; Candidate for City Council, Hector Santiago; Hon. Consul for Michigan, Paul Borg; Msgr. Charles Kosanke.
