Soccer, or football, is one of the most popular and widely enjoyed sports in Malta. Ethnic-based soccer teams and leagues used to dominate the sports scene in many industrial cities, including Detroit. The Maltese American Soccer Club, now defunct, experienced a great deal of success in these leagues. This picture commemorates the 1948-1949 Championship team.
